THE LEAD – The Lesley University baseball team wrapped up its road portion of the 2025 schedule with a dominant sweep of UMaine Farmington by a score of 15-0 in game one, and 9-4 in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)
- After both sides would go scoreless in the first inning, Lesley scored a combined two-runs between the second and third for the 2-0 advantage. In the second, Colby Jacobs (Charlton, Mass.) started off the scoring with an RBI double down the left field line. Later in the third, the Lynx would grab their second run via a Raymond Morales (Naugatuck, Conn.) RBI single.
- Later in the fourth, the Lesley bats continued to stay hot as the squad posted a four-run inning to make it a 6-0 ballgame. Kevin Dorsey (Cibolo, Texas) highlighted the frame with a three-run bomb to left field that made it 5-0 at the time.
- Lesley starter Roy Lenhard (Shelton, Conn.) made sure the Beavers would not have any respone to the Lesley offense as the junior had a stretch where he retired 10-straight batters after the Lynx's four-run inning.
- The Lynx would go onto tack on another run in the sixth thanks to a Colin McCarthy (Rehoboth, Mass.) RBI. However, the squad really put things out of reach in the eighth courtesey of an eight-run eighth that made it 15-0. Dorsey's hot bat continued to give UMaine Farmington trouble as the sophomore drove in another two runs which made it 11-0. Finally, in the bottom of the frame, Lenhard would go onto retire the side and give the Lynx a game one win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 1)
- Dorsey highlight the offense with a career-high five RBIs in the win. His home run in the fourth also marked the first of his career.
- James Brandon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) also had a strong day for the Lesley offense as the first basemen tied his career-high in hits with four on the day.
- Along with Brandon and Dorsey, three other Lesley hitters drove in multiple RBIs including Caden Shott (Richmond, Calif.) and Keenan Hobart (Newington, Conn.) with two apiece.
- Lenhard was dominant on the mound for the Lynx as the junior hurler earned his third win of the season thanks to a complete game effort allowing just four hits and no runs while striking out two. Lenhard also had a stretch from the fourth inning on where he retired 13-straight batters.
- For UMaine Farmington, Tyler Rosa led the offense with two hits.
- Maddox Santone took the loss for the Beavers after going 4.0 IP and giving up nine hits and six runs.
- Lesley's 23 hits on the day marked a new season-high. They have now recorded 10-plus hits in 12 games this year and are 8-4 in those contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)
- Lesley's offense continued right where it left off in game one as the Lynx jumped on the Beavers in the first with a three-run inning. Owen Kalagher (Fairfield, Conn.) highlighted the frame thanks to a two-run RBI double to left that made it 3-0.
- The Lynx continued to add on runs after scoring in both the second and third which pushed the lead to five (5-0). In the second, Shott had an RBI double that found a gap down the left field line and in the third, Jacobs drove in the fifth run when he ripped an RBI single through the left side.
- However, UMaine Farmington responded in the third and cut the deficit to three (5-2) thanks to RBIs from Bloch and Rosa. Later in the sixth, Lesley would get those two-runs back after Brandon recorded a two-run RBI single to right which made it 7-2. The Beavers would not go quietly though as the hosts made it a 7-4 game thanks to a Ike Wrigley two-run shot.
- That would be the closest UMaine Farmington would get as the Lynx went and pushed the lead back to five in the seventh thanks to a Brandon RBI and alert base-running from Shott on a wild pitch. Lesley starter Andrew Gryniewicz (Hollis, N.H.) would go onto retire the Beavers in order to secure the 9-4 victory.
