THE LEAD — After their first win back in Massachusetts against Curry College, the Lynx headed into their home opener against the Rivier Raiders. The Raiders got out to an early lead, and for most of the game, their pitching held the Lynx back from doing anything about it. But in the late innings, Lesley started a comeback, but it was too little too late as they fell 5-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
With two outs in the top of the 1st, a Raider drew a four-pitch walk. The next man up tripled up the right field line to bring him in. The next man up hit a single up the line and scored a second run.
-
In the bottom of the 1st, the Lynx loaded up the bases but weren't able to score
-
The next few innings continued without much action.
-
A hit batter and two walks loaded the bases for Rivier, but Lesley was able to get out unscathed.
-
In the 5th, the Lynx walked two, then a bunt loaded up the bases. A single drove in two, and the Raiders were up 4-0.
-
The 7th started with a double. A sacrifice bunt got him to third, and a single out to left gave Rivier another run.
-
Anthony Nyhuis started the bottom of the inning, reaching second on an error. A groundout from Nathan Young got Nyhuis to third, and a wild pitch gave the Lynx their first run of the game.
-
Lesley was able to shut down the Raiders' offense for the rest of the game.
-
In the bottom of the 9th, the LYnx immediately got two outs, but then Andres Moreno singled to center. Logan Shudy and Caden Shott each walked on full counts to load the bases. Grant Bazinet smacked a single and drove in two.
-
The Lynx ultimately lost 5-3.

-
For the Raiders, Liam Stott went 3 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in a run and accounted for one himself.
