THE LEAD — After a recent skid, the Lynx were eager to get back on track. They got right to it, putting up five in the first inning and not looking back from there. A pair of homers were just the tip of the iceberg in the Lynx's second-best offensive performance of the season. Backed by solid pitching, Lesley handily won 15-9
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
The Lynx wasted no time. Andres Moreno got a leadoff single, and Jacob Brown followed with the same. Grant Bazinet got a first-pitch double and put the Lynx on the board.
-
Gerlys Martinez then singled and advanced to second, scoring another two. Caden Shott then homered, and Lesley was up 5-0 before recording an out.
-
Dean responded right away by sitting down the next three batters. Then their leadoff batter homered, and back-to-back doubles shrank the deficit.
-
To start the second, Logan Shudy drew a full count walk and then stole second. Moreno followed with a walk of his own. A wild pitch moved them up, and a single from Martinez scored them both.
-
In the bottom half, Dean put up three and made it 7-5.
-
Both teams were quiet in the 3rd. In the 4th, Jacob Brown singled, then Bazinet did too, and Martinez also singled and loaded the bases. A fly out to left scored another run, but a double play killed the hopes of another rally.
-
The Lynx continued to pile on the runs. The following inning, Adiel Azuara singled and Shudy drew a walk. A wild pitch moved them up, and a single from Moreno put another two on the board.
-
The Bulldogs got another in the 5th, and neither team did much in the 6th.
-
Brown singled in the 7th, then Bazinet hit into an error and made it to second. A groundout from Martinez scored Brown, and a single from Shott scored Bazinet.
-
The Bulldogs kept their head above water, scoring a run in the bottom of the inning, but time was running out.
-
In the 8th, Owen Finnegan was hit by a pitch and made it all the way to third on a wild pitch. Shudy flew out and recorded an RBI.
-
Brown drew a full count lead-off walk just in time for Bazinet to smack a homer, putting the Lynx up 15-7.
-
Dean got a homer of their own in the bottom of the 9th, but it was all they could muster.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
