THE LEAD — After being blown out just a few days ago by the Falcons, the Lynx were hungry for revenge. The Falcons had other plans as they put up 12 runs in the first two innings and coasted to a sweep of the Lynx this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
The Falcons were the first on the board. A triple scored a run, and a wild pitch put them up two.
-
The Lynx wasted no time chipping away at the deficit. Owen Finnegan made it to second due to an error. A grounder from Noah Roman got him to third, and a single from Christopher Wallace scored him.
-
Just as it seemed like the momentum was changing. Wallace was picked off, then the Falcons had a 10-run rally. A grand slam was the highlight of the half, and when all the dust settled, the Lynx were down 12-1.
-
Neither team did much in the 3rd, but the Lynx started to heat up again in the 4th. Caden Shott singled and stole second and third. Finnegan singled for an RBI.
-
The Falcons kept their distance, scoring another two runs. They continued the damage with four in the 5th.
-
In the 6th, Shott made it to second thanks to an error. Anthony Nyhuis singled to move him up. Then Jayson Collado came in to pinch hit and recorded his second RBI of the season.
-
The Lynx ultimately fell to the run rule in 7 innings, 18-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-
The Lynx only managed five hits all game, and Finnegan had one. He had the best day at the plate of the whole team, going 1 for 2 with a walk. He recorded an RBI and a run
-
In his first appearance in a month, Logan Brugnoli was the one pitcher who was able to hold the Falcon back the best. He pitched 2.0 innings, the most of anyone in this game. He let up two runs on 0 hits. He walked four and recorded a strikeout.
-
For the Falcons, John Batista was unstoppable. He went 2 for 2 with a grand slam and three walks. He scored four RBI's and accounted for two runs. He also stole a team-high two bases.
