Four Lynx Earn All-Conference Postseason Awards

Cambridge, MA - Four Members of the Lesley Baseball Team have received All-Conference awards from the NAC. Gerlys Martinez was named as the catcher for the NAC All-Conference First Team. Roy Lenhard and Jacob Nemergut were both named to the Second Team All-Conference. Alexander Juhasz was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

After an incredible rookie campaign, Martinez earned the catcher spot on the NAC All-Conference First Team. Appearing in all but three games this season, he led the team both at the plate and behind it. He ranked first on the Lynx in RBIs with 33, slugging percentage with a .475, and first in doubles with 11, almost double anyone else on the team. He also finished second in hits with 40 and batting average with .339. His .438 OBP also places him third on the roster.

Behind the plate, Martinez had a fielding percentage of .978, ranking third among all everyday players, recording only four errors. He led all catchers in the NAC in caught stealing, throwing out 15 runners. Four of those came on April 13th in a game against Fisher College, the highest of any game involving a NAC team this season. A week earlier, he threw out three Husson players, the most of any NAC matchup. Nothing got by him either; he only allowed three passed balls on the season, the second lowest of any catcher in the conference.

The Lynx's two aces, Lenhard & Nemergut, were named to the NAC All-Conference Second Team. The two pitchers sit atop almost every statistical category for Lesley and a handful of NAC leaderboards. Both pitchers made 11 appearances, tied for third on the team. Nemergut made 10 starts and went the distance in four of those outings and earned four wins, all team records for the season. He also led the team in WHIP with 1.23. He led the entire NAC with triples allowed, with only a single one. In the NAC, his 21 earned runs placed him second for qualified pitchers, and his 3.48 ERA is second for the Lynx and third in the conference.

Nemergut got off to a hot start, earning the NAC Player of the Week in the very first week of the season. He was on the mound for 54.1 innings, the second most of any Lynx and fifth most for any pitcher in the NAC. The graduate student struck out 51 batters, ranking second on the pitching staff and 3rd in the NAC. His 8.45 strikeouts per nine innings is third among all pitchers on the squad, and he finished fifth in the NAC for strikeouts looking.

Lenhard had a nearly identical season; the senior was the only other pitcher to throw a complete game, and he also did it four times. He led the Lynx in innings pitched (55.1), strikeouts (52), and earned run average (3.42). His K count and ERA are also ranked second among all NAC pitchers. He led all of the NAC in opposing batting average with a .226 and sac flies allowed with a single one. He also ranked second in strikeouts looking with 18, and his 21 earned runs were the second-best mark in the conference.

He made eight starts on the mound and earned three wins, both second best on the team behind Nemregut. He had an average strike outs per nine innings of 8.46 and a WHIP of 1.41, once against second on the Lesley pitching staff. Of all pitchers who threw over 10.0 innings, he gave up the third least amount of walks with 15.

Juhasz was selected as the representative for the NAC Sportsmanship Team. The senior made his collegiate debut in a 23-1 win over UMaine-Presque Isle on March 17th and subsequently appeared in five games. He finished the season with 11 at-bats, driving in two runs. He also scored a run and got a hit. He drew two walks as well. On the field, he managed a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000
