CAMBRIDGE, MA, -- The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has released their 2021-22 Men's Basketball Award winners and Lesley Men's Basketball's Gabe McCrary has been named the NECC Rookie of the Year.
McCrary was named the conference Rookie of the Week seven times over the course of the season, instantly impressing and making an impact for his team. He broke out in a big way in the very first game of the season and his collegiate career, scoring a season high 35 points and securing nine rebounds. In 21 games this season, McCrary averaged 17.9 points per game, shooting 49% from the field. He also averaged 6.9 rebounds per game and 4.4 assists per game. His contributions on the defensive side were pivotal as well, as he averaged 2.5 steals per game. Each of McCrary's per game statistics were within the top five in the conference and tops amongst all rookies.
In addition to McCrary's award, the Lynx were also represented on the Del Malloy Sportsmanship team by freshman forward Adonis Giannopolous of Geneva, Switzerland.
