CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University men's basketball first-year guard Tavon Rhodes (Dorchester, Mass.) was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon. For Rhodes, this is his fourth time earning the distinction.
Last week, Rhodes totaled 47 points (15.6 ppg) over three games, highlighted by a 24-point performance at Fisher College on 9-of-16 shooting. In Friday's win at VTSU Lyndon, he scored 16 points, including two game-sealing free throws with 44 seconds left. Rhodes shot an impressive 55.0% from the field (22-of-40), adding seven assists (2.3 APG), 11 rebounds (3.6 RPG), and five steals (1.6 SPG). His week included a six-rebound game at Fisher and a four-steal effort in the win at VTSU Lyndon.
So far this year, Rhodes is ranked within the top 15 in scoring (11th) in the NAC, averaging 14.2 points per game, and is second among all first-year students in the conference.
Lesley has a light week as the squad only has one game at home when the Lynx take on SUNY Delhi in NAC action. Tip-off is set for this Saturday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's contest also will be the squads Senior night as well.
