THE LEAD— Aden Goffe scored a game-high 26 points to power visiting Elms College past Lesley University, 76-64, in NCAA Division III non-conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Minuteman Gym.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team got out to great starts but the Blazers capitalized on some early LU foul trouble to take a 14-4 lead through the first seven minutes of action.
- The Lynx pulled within one on free throw by Moses Semuhoza (Westbrook, Maine) to make it 17-16 with 8:34 to play in the first half but EC closed the stanza outscoring the hosts 22-9 over the final eight minutes to take a 14-point, 39-25 lead into the break.
- A Goffe layup followed by a bucket from Edgardo Cancel opened Elms' largest lead of the afternoon at 43-25 but Lesley regrouped, fighting back to single-digits following a layup from Jaxon Miles (Arlington, Texas) with 13:31 to play to make it 49-40.
- Semuhoza made it a two-possession game with a three from the top of the key with 7:55 to play to cut the score to 56-50 but it was the closest the Lynx would get as the Blazers held on for the 76-64 win, their second in as many days.
