THE LEAD — The Lynx looked to end a skid and start the road trip with a win, while the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers also hoped for their first win of the new year. Both teams gave it their all. Neither team wanted to back down, and neither was able to gain much of a lead. The contest came down to the final minutes with the Fighting Tigers edging the Lynx by a single point.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams started hot, going back and forth for the first few minutes of the game, but after a few misses from the Fighting Tigers, the Lynx were able to build a lead.

  • They maintained a small lead of about eight points for most of the opening half, then a string of misses allowed Cobleskill to get right back in the game.

  • A three from MJ Ford allowed CObleskill to get their first lead of the game with just over a minute left of the first half.

  • The two teams went into the locker rooms following a well-fought 20 minutes. The Fighting Tigers led 35-33

  • Despite all the effort of the first half, both teams came out with determination. The second half was more tightly contested than the first.

  • Neither team was really ever able to break away; the largest lead was four points by Lesley, coming after a dunk by Aaron Feaster.

  • The thriller came right down to the wire, with less than a minute and a half left, Cobleskill's Emilio Nabli sank a three-pointer to tie the game at 68.

  • The pressure got to the Lynx, sacrificing a missed three, a foul, and two turnovers within the final minute to fall 71-70

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Ethan Arnold led the Lynx in points with 18, including two threes, and was perfect from the free-throw line. He also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists.

  • The Fighting Tigers had an equally long showing. Andrew Wright put up 18 points, including 10 made free throws, a team season high, on 14 attempts, another team season high.

  • Cobleskill also grabbed 14 steals, a record for them this season. Five of which came from Marquay Tanksley, a team high on the season.
