The Lead - The Lesley Lynx returned home from a road trip hungry for their first win of 2026. While the VTSU Lyndon Hornets came to Lexington looking to turn their last win into a streak. A back-and-forth battle ensued. The Lynx were able to gain a lead a couple of times, but the Hornets always fought their way back. It came down to the wire, but the Lynx were able to squeak out a 109-104 win.

How It Happened

  • The games started with both teams trading shots without either gaining much of a lead over their opponent.

  • Aaron Feaster hit a three with 10 minutes left in the first to put the Lynx up 6, their biggest lead of the game to that point.

  • The Lynx followed up that with a block from Ryan Ellis and a layup from Jarod Johnson to force the Hornets to use their first timeout.

  • After a few minutes of great defense from both sides, Feaster hit another three with just under four minutes left.

  • With just under a minute left, another block from Ellis, followed by a dunk from Ethan Arnold, helped the Lynx go into the half up 50-44.

  • The Hornets started to claw back, coming out of the locker room, but just when they got within one, Feaster yet again sank a deep three to keep Lesley ahead.

  • Every time the Hornets came within a point or two of the lead, the Lynx would make a shot to keep themselves just out of arm's reach.

  • VTSU Lyndon was able to tie up the game with nine minutes left.

  • The two teams were trading the lead as they headed into the final stretch of the game.

  • The Lynx started to break away. A three from Arnold and a pair of free throws by Ellis put them up 10 with only three minutes left in the game.

  • The Hornets would not go quietly, shrinking the lead to two within the final minute.

  • Mateo Duran's layup plus the And-1 with 10 seconds left was just enough to give the Lynx the 109-104 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Arnold led the Lynx in points with 27, his most of the season. He tied the team high with three made three's, he also grabbed eight rebounds and recorded a steal.

  • Ellis recorded 17 points of his own. He recorded all of the team's blocks with 4, he led the team with nine rebounds, and with two steals. He dished out another three assists just for good measure.

  • Johnson was three rebounds short of recording a Triple-Double. He put up 16 points and led the team with 10 assists.

  • Lesley's collective 109 points are a high point for them on the season. Their 44.4% 3-point efficiency is also the best they've achieved this season. The Lynx also made exactly 50% of their shots, their second-best mark of the season behind the November 18 win over VTSU Johnson.

  • Wesley McIntyre stood out for the Hornets. He led the team in points (32), assists (5), and steals (4). He also grabbed seven rebounds and played all but four minutes.
