THE LEAD — The Lynx headed up to Maine still hot from a win over VTSU Lyndon last week. The Beavers looked to maintain their stride in the home stretch of their first-place season. The Lynx had a priming start, but soon UMaine took over the game. A strong showing on both offense and defense was all they needed to get the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx were the first on the board, and they started off hot.

  • Five minutes into the game, they were up 12-5, but it would be the largest lead they'd hold all game.

  • Within a minute and a half, the Beavers had caught up. They would continue the run until they were up 18-12.

  • A flurry of misses from Lesley only sank them deeper.

  • However, their offense recovered in the tail end of the first, heading into the locker rooms 44-34.

  • The Beavers did not let up in the second; they sank three threes in the opening minutes, two coming from Brayden Pierre.

  • The Lynx refused to give up, but Farmington's defenses did their job. Lesley was never able to get into a rhythm.

  • The Beavers went on a handful of little runs. It was the key to getting the 97-70 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • CJ Leonard led the Lynx in points with 10. He also tied the team high of five rebounds and recorded a steal.

  • Ethan Arnold also grabbed five rebounds and led the team with four assists. He also put up eight points and got a block.

  • On the Beavers, Jason Reynolds went off, putting up 23 points, including four threes, the second-most points on the team. He also grabbed a team season-leading 17 rebounds. He dished out two assists, too.

  • Lesley continues their road trip as they head to Maine Maritime Academy for a 1 PM game on Saturday, January 31.
