THE LEAD —  The Lynx came into the game, originally scheduled for January 25th, looking to turn around a recent losing skid, while the Badgers came in with the hope of catching their first win of the season. It was a back-and-forth game in the first. The badgers held on in the second, but an onslaught of threes in the final stretch was just enough for the Lynx to capture the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ethan Arnold sank a three to start the Lynx out on the right foot.

  • The beginning of the first was back and forth and very low scoring. Both teams had good looks but weren't able to make their shots.

  • VTSU Johnson got their first lead around the 12-minute mark, but a three-pointer from Mateo Duran gave Lesley the lead right back.

  • The two teams went shot-for-shot and were never able to gain a lead of more than 4.

  • With less than a minute left in the opening half, the Badgers tied it up, but a couple of Lynx layups gave them a four-point advantage going into the locker rooms.

  • The second half was a completely different story. Both teams doubled their offensive performance.

  • Both teams took off, yet they still weren't able to separate themselves very much.

  • Then the Lynx discovered their secret weapon, the three-pointer. They hit 11 in the second, accounting for more than half of their points in the half. Four of which came from Jarod Johnsson.

  • Starting just after the nine-minute mark, the Lynx only scored three points and free throws for the remainder of the game. They put up 30 points, where only six came from free throws.

  • The Badgers simply could not contain the Lynx or keep up with them. Lesley won 99-83.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Arnold led the Lynx in both points (23) and rebounds (13). On top of his double-double, he dished out two assists, recorded a block, and had a huge steal.

  • CJ Leonard also had a double-double of his own with 18 points and 10 rebounds, plus he handed out four assists.

  • In the first half, both teams shot under 33% from the field and over 50% in the second.

  • Despite only shooting 28.6% from three in the first, the Lynx's 48.4% total game percentage is the highest of the season. Their 15 made threes is a season high.

  • For the Badgers, Jason Baker had a huge game. He put up 24 points, tied the team high of seven rebounds, led the team with six assists, and had all five of the Badgers' blocks while playing every minute of the game.
