Title: Head Coach - Men's Basketball

Coach Alex Burt was hired as the Lesley Men's Basketball Head Coach on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Prior to joining Lesley, Burt was the men's basketball head coach at Great Bay Community College located in Portsmouth, N.H. In his final three seasons with the Herons, Burt guided the program to 63 wins highlighted by a 23-6 season in 2024-25 while clinching a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championship in the regular and postseason. Burt and Great Bay also earned a victory in the consolation game of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division 2 Small College National Championship. Burt also led Great Bay to two USCAA National Tournament appearances, coached three USCAA All-Americans, four YSCC All-Conference honorees, and five USCAA Academic All-Americans. Burt was also named USCAA National Coach of the year in 2023 after leading the Herons to a 22-9 record and an appearance in the USCAA Division 2 Small College National Championship Semifinals.

Before Great Bay Community College, Burt was an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Southern Vermont College (SVC) in 2017-18. SVC posted a record of 22-6 and won the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Conference Championship, earning them an auto-bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. The Head Coach of the Mountaineers, Dan Engelstad, was selected NECC Coach of the Year, one student-athlete was selected NECC Player of the Year, and another student-athlete was selected NECC Defensive Player of the Year.

Burt is a 2015 graduate of Plymouth State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He also played basketball, amassing a total of 1,045 career points, and captained the team as a senior. After the conclusion of his collegiate playing career, he went on to play professionally in the United Kingdom and Germany.

He is a 2010 graduate from Dover High School where he was named Mr. New Hampshire Basketball and was a McDonald's All-American Nominee.
