THE LEAD – Lesley University junior keeper Josh Angulo-Gonzalez (Malden, Mass.) tied the single-game program record with 15 saves in a 5-2 setback vs. Fisher College on Wednesday evening in men's collegiate soccer action at Harry Della Russo Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The squads traded PK goals in the opening stanza to take a 1-1 score into intermission. Junior Miguel Vasconcelos (Sharon, Mass.) converted his first collegiate penalty attempt to even the score at 1-all after the hosts took an early lead on a PK conversion by Leonardo Di Biase in the 15th minute.
- Lesley briefly took a 2-1 lead early in the second frame as senior Adrian Esparragoza (New York, N.Y.) rifled a shot from the right wing that forced Gino Gervasoni to make a diving save to his right only for LU senior forward Nick Wadleigh (Glastonbury, Conn.) to clean up the rebound for his first goal of the campaign to give the visitors a one-goal cushion in the 53rd minute.
- Di Biase found the back of the net with his second penalty of the match in the 68th minute to knot the score at 2-2 before the wheels came off the tracks for the Lynx down the stretch as Di Biase converted his third score of the match for the hat trick in the 78th minute for the Falcon's eventual game-winner to make it 3-2 on a scrum in front of the Lesley net.
- Less than two minutes later, Fisher added an insurance goal to bump its lead to 4-2 on a marker by Santiago Blancuzzi before Alejandro Granados finished the scoring with a bicycle kick volley finish off a Andres Ruiz free kick with just under six minutes remaining in regulation to account for the 5-2 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Lesley added a team save to end the contest with 16 total stops, a new single-game team record.
- Fisher dominated the total shots in the action outshooting Lesley by a 33-8 final including a 16-2 first half differential. They also owned a 5-0 edge in corners in the win.
- Gervasoni picks up the win in net to move to 1-1 on the year making a pair of saves.
- The goals by Vasconcelos and Wadleigh were both the first of their respective campaigns.
