THE LEAD – Lasell University snapped a two-match scoreless streak to earn its first win of the 2025 campaign, downing Lesley University, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Taylor Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lasers found the back of the net in the 7th minute and never looked back as Christopher Guzman got the scoring started with his first goal of the season.
  • Ryan Klopchin doubled the hosts lead to 2-0 at the 15:07 marker on an unassisted tally and the score remained a two-goal game until less than a minute to play in the opening stanza when Emilio Magdon delivered a soul-crushing blow to make it 3-0 with just nine seconds to play in the half.
  • The Lynx kept the score at 3-0 until the 68th minute when Guzman set up Owen O'Brien for his first goal of the campaign to move the needle to 4-0.
  • Avery Reed capped the scoring with his first collegiate goal, sending a left-footed bender into the top left corner of the frame to account for the 5-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Lasell outshot Lesley by a 24-5 margin, including an 11-0 difference in the second half.
  • The Lasers also owned a 6-2 edge in corners on the game with the Lynx attempting both in the second half of action.
  • Both teams split duties in net as Avry Whitson picked up his first collegiate victory in goal playing the first 45 minutes and making one save before giving way to Reed Brown who played the final 45 to combine for Lasell's first shutout win of the year.
  • The Lynx keeper duo of Josh Angulo-Gonzalez (Malden, Mass.) and Aiden Hendricks (Richmond, Va.) made seven saves combined, with Hendricks edging his counterpart, 4-3.
