THE LEAD – Husson University scored a season-high seven goals to earn its first win of the campaign, topping Lesley University by a 7-0 final in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at John P. Boucher Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cesar Source got the scoring started just 4:45 into the action with his first goal of the year to get the Eagles soaring at 1-0.
- Back-to-back goals by Miguel Diaz Alvarez in the 25th and 27th minutes made it 3-0 before Jakob Reichle capped the first half's scoring with his first of the season to account for a 4-0 halftime score.
- The hosts outshot LU by a 14-0 margin in the stanza.
- Any chance of a comeback was thwarted by a Rique Mendes goal just 2:58 into the second period to move the score to 5-0.
- David Panci and Tighe Hrabchak added late goals to wrap the afternoon tallies and score at 7-0, Husson.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Husson outshot the Lynx by a 26-2 margin on the day as sophomore Wassim Chaib (East Boston, Mass.) attempted both for Lesley.
- LU junior keeper Aiden Hendricks (Richmond, Va.) made eight saves while Jamie Barr and Liam Mason split time for the Eagles to combine for the shutout.
- HU improves to 8-0 all-time vs. Lesley and has now outscored the Lynx 35-2 over the career series.
