THE LEAD – Lesley University and SUNY Delhi played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon in highly contested North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer action at the Minuteman High School field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx the deadlock in the 19th minute as sophomore Wassim Chaib (East Boston, Mass.) drew a penalty in the Broncos box. Junior Tyler Fortin (Farmington, Conn.) stepped up and calmly deposited the penalty kick into the back of the net to put Lesley on top, 1-0.
  • Chaib almost made it 2-0 in the 26th minute but his left-footed attempt from close range was denied by Ayden Grieve and on the ensuing Bronco's possession, some nifty work on the left wing by Matthew Bender results in the equalizer to even the score at 1-1 at the 26:33 marker.
  • Delhi held the slight 7-6 edge in shots in the first half with neither team attempts a corner in the stanza.
  • In the second half, both teams had decent scoring chances midway through the action and both keepers were up to the test as Grieve denied Osmyn Atwood (New York, N.Y.) and LU junior Aiden Hendricks (Richmond, Va.) made several saves down the stretch including four in the final eight minutes of action to preserve the point in the 1-1 final
