THE LEAD – The Bucs men's soccer team hosted Lesley in non-conference play on Wednesday on Taylor's Point. After a week of rest following a 3-0 win over UMass Dartmouth, the Bucs kept the good times rolling with a 6-0 win over the Lynx.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Luke Twomey opened the scoring in the 18th minute for the Buccaneers, scoring on a header from a ball delivered beautifully into the box by Joseph Hajjar. Maritime added a second goal in the 30th minute when they earned a penalty. Nicholas Dias, the freshman, stepped up and buried the ball into the top left corner for his first-career goal. The Buccaneers kept the 2-0 lead heading to the half.
  • In the second half, the Buccaneers scored off the rip when PJ Cullivan scored his first goal of the night. From a tight corner left of goal, Cullivan took a pass from Brody Calvert that came across the six-yard box, and put it in the bottom right to give the Bucs a 3-0 lead in the 47th minute.
  • Five minutes later, Cullivan scored again from left of the goal to make it a 4-0 Bucs advantage. In the 63rd minute, Jack Turmel delivered a pass to the foot of Ryan Butzbach, who beat the keeper, making it a 5-0 game.
  • Dias scored his second goal and the Bucs' final goal in the 70th minute, bringing the score to 6-0.
  • Late in the game, Lesley got a prime opportunity to get on the scoresheet when a handball was called against the Buccaneers in the box. Aidan Stafford (Westford, Mass.) stepped up for Lesley, and Andrw Pinzon, in his Maritime debut, made the save. Unfortunately for him, the ball was called back to the spot by the referee for a Buccaneers player entering the box early. Stafford stepped up again, and again Pinzon made the save to keep the clean sheet for the Buccaneers as they went on to win the game, 6-0.
