THE LEAD – The Lesley University men's tennis team continued the 2025 season when the squad hit the road to take on SUNY Delhi but unfortunately fell to the Broncos 8-1 in both matchups Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Doubles (Match 1):

• In the first doubles spot, James Ontiveros (Walham, Mass.) and Thomas Nicol (Acton, Mass.) dropped the first set, 8-0. 
• The second pairing in doubles of Jeremy Ouellette (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and Hunter Treanor (Bulverde, Texas) fell 8-2.
• Finally, the third spot in doubles saw Paul Adebowale (Basingstoke, United Kingdom) and Daniel Excell (New Hartford, N.Y.) loose 8-0.

Singles (Match 1):

• Leading off singles action for Lesley, Nichol took down the Broncos number one singles student-athlete, Ben Andersen by a score of 6-2 and 6-3. 
• The second spot saw Ontiveros take part but ended up with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat.
• In singles three, Ouellette was downed 6-1, 6-1.
• Treanor took part in the singles four however he dropped his set 6-0, 6-1.
• Duncan Finnie (Sudbury, Mass.) found himself at the fifth spot in singles but was defeated 6-0, 6-0.
• Finally, in the last singles spot of the first match, Adebowale fell 6-2, 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Doubles (Match 2):

• Leading off doubles in match two, the pairing of Nicol and Ouellette fell 8-6 in the opening matchup.
• In the second spot of doubles, Treanor and Ontiveros were defeated 8-0. 
• The last pairing of doubles saw Adebowale and Excell fall 8-2.

Singles (Match 2):

• Once again, Nicol took down Andersen in a competetive battle by a score of 3-6, 6-2, and 7-5. 
• Ontiveros unfortunately was downed in the second singles spot, 6-0, 6-0. 
• Ouellette was up next in singles three action but in a tough bout 3-6, 6-4, and 6-4. The fourth spot in singles saw Treanor be defeated 6-1, 6-4. 
• In the fifth spot, Adebowale dropped the set 6-0, 6-3. Finally, in the six spot, Excell also fell 6-0, 6-1. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Nicol's two wins in singles marked the first of his career. 
• Adebowale and Excell's matches today marked the collegiate debuts for the two Lynx.
