THE LEAD – The Lesley University men's tennis team returned home to host VTSU Lyndon but fell to the Hornets in Empire 8 action, 8-1 and non-conference play, 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Doubles (Match 1):

• In the first doubles spot, DJ Cronin (New York, N.Y.) and Thomas Nicol (Acton, Mass. dropped the first match, 8-4. 
• The second pairing in doubles James Ontiveros (Walham, Mass.) and Bennett Locke (Braintree, Mass.) fell by a score of 8-0. 
• Finally, the three spot in doubles saw the pairing of Kai Burridge (New York, N.Y.) and Miles Brajdic (Atlanta, Ga.) take down the Hornets No. 3 in doubles, 8-6. 

Singles (Match 1):

• Leading off singles action for Lesley, Nicol fell 6-2, 6-2.
• The second spot saw Brajdic take part but ended up with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat.
• In singles three, Locke was downed 6-0, 6-0.
• Despite falling in the four-spot, Cronin pushed Stephen Wutzl 6-4, 6-7 (8-6), and 6-2.
• Ontiveros found himself at the fifth spot in singles but was defeated 6-2, 6-0.
• Finally, in the last singles spot of the first match, Burridge fell 6-3, 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Doubles (Match 2):

• Leading off doubles in match two, the pairing of Nicol and Cronin fell 8-3 in the opening matchup.
• In the second spot of doubles, Brajdic and Locke were defeated 8-2. 
• The last pairing of doubles saw Burridge and Ontiveros downed 8-2.

Singles (Match 2):

• Nicol highlighted singles action in the second match with a tough loss in the No. 1 spot 6-4 and 7-6 (13-11). Ontivaros also had a hard-fought battle in the five spot but also came up short 7-6 (8-6), 6-2. 
• Despite the loss, Burridge had one of his strongest matches in singles action falling 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-3). 
• In the two spot, Brajdic fell 6-1, 6-1. Meanwhile at three, Lock was also defeated 6-0, 6-0. 
• Finally, in singles four, Cronin lost his matchup 6-0, 6-4. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Brajdic and Burridge both earned their first career doubles wins in match one. 
• Saturday's matchup marked the 2025 season debut for both Burridge and Locke.
• VTSU Lyndon currently holds the overall series lead over Lesley, 4-0.
