CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After playing in eight spring training games down in Fort Myers, freshman outfielder Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) won her first Rookie of the Week award from the North Atlantic Conference.
Her totals for the week included a .370 BA (10-for-27), four runs, five runs batted in and three stolen bases. Durben showed her power at the plate as five of her ten hits were extra-base hits including four doubles and one home run.
Durben was held hitless in her first three games of the week, but was able to single twice against Olivet College in a 4-0 loss.
In Lesley's next game against Drew University, Durben blasted a solo home run deep over the left fielder's head in the third inning. The Lynx went on to earn their first victory of the season by the score of 3-0.
Against an impressive Wheaton College (MA) team, Durben had three hits in four at bats including two doubles. The following day, Durben added two more hits resulting in two runs batted in and crossed the plate twice herself in a 12-2 win over Skidmore College.
There is no doubt that the Lynx will look to the freshman to continue her early season success as conference play will begin just a couple of weeks. The next game for Lesley will be Thursday April 3 at 3 p.m. against Massachusetts Maritime Academy at home.
