CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The North Atlantic Conference released their weekly softball honors and Lesley University pitcher Alicia Burnett (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) won Co-Player of the Week.
Burnett, a junior transfer pitcher, went 3-0 on the week in four appearances for the Lynx. On the week, she had a 0.06 ERA, gave up just 10 hits, and struck out 26 batters 17.0 innings pitched.
In her first start of the week Burnett pitched 5.0 innings and struck out seven batters in a 14-0 dominant performance over Mass Maritime Academy. She even made an two-inning relief appearance in the second game of the day against the Buccaneers.
Burnett also had 5.0 inning wins against Bay Path College and Wheelock College where the junior struck out nine batters in each game. Lesley won both games 13-0 and 14-1, respectively.
The Lynx have been on a roll since they returned home from spring training, winning all six of their games this past week. Four of those victories came against NAC opponents Bay Path College and Wheelock College to improve Lesley's 2008 record to 8-6 (4-0 NAC).
Lesley will rely on Burnett often this season as she has proven to be a key member of the team's pitching staff.
On Thursday April 10, the Lynx will be in action against non-conference opponent Newbury College. Following the double-header with the Nighthawks, Lesley will host NAC opponents Maine Maritime Academy and Husson College on Saturday and Sunday.
