CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University softball joined the ranks of some of New England's top collegiate softball programs this week by reaching the #10 spot on the New England Collegiate Softball Coaches Association Division III (NEISCA) Top 10 poll.
The Lynx earned the ranking after a 4-2 week that included splitting a double header with Wellesley College, who currently resides in the #8 position.
Lesley makes their first appearance ever in the NEISCA coaches poll with a 17-10 (9-1 NECC) record so far in 2009. Since their 2-6 record down at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida, the Lynx have gone 15-4 with solid non-conference victories and dominance of NECC opponents. Their non-conference schedule includes wins over Thomas College, Pine Manor College, and Wellesley College.
The Lynx come in the NEISCA poll just behind Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member St. Joseph's (ME) who are in second place in the GNAC with a 26-10 (18-6 GNAC) mark.
With eight games remaining, including four games against two of the top teams in the NECC and a double header with tough non-conference opponent Framingham State College, Lesley has the opportunity to improve their standing in the NEISCA poll.
Lesley's next games will come against Mitchell College on Friday, April 24 starting at 2:00 pm in New London, Connecticut.
