  • WSU got all the runs they'd need in the bottom of the first, plating four runs on two hits while taking advantage of four walks at the plate to jump out to the early 4-0 lead.
  • Westfield State increased its lead to 11-0 with a seven-run second inning, collecting seven hits to put the game out of reach for Lesley.
  • The Owls tacked on three runs in the third, highlighted by a two-RBI single up the middle from Eva Surette before capping the scoring in the fourth on an RBI single to left-center from Shayna Bakun to account for the 15-0 final.

  • Cassidy Wallner (1-0) earned the win working the first three innings, recording six strikeouts in the effort before Lyla Dwyer registered the final six outs including three K's.

  • LU junior Marissa De La Rosa notched her first collegiate hit for the Lynx with a bloop single to center in the second inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2 vs. Crown)

  • The Polars got out of the gates quickly with three first inning runs to set the tone for the affair as Maria Lilienthal doubled to center to drive in a pair in the frame.
  • Crown plated four more runs in the second to move the score to 7-0, paced by a two-RBI single to right by Sophie Monsman.
  • Monsman picked up two more RBI in the third with a single to right-center, bumping the Polars' lead to 9-0 before the Lynx got on the board in the fourth. First year Eleni Vrahatis registered a single to center, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved over to third on a ground out and then came in to score on an RBI groundout by Thomas to make it 9-1.
  • The Polars pushed six more runs across in the bottom half of the fourth, taking advantage of a pair of LU miscues to result in the 15-1 final score.
