THE LEAD — After a rough series, the Lynx looked to turn things around in their home opener against UMF. The Beavers scored first, but Lesley stayed right with them most of the game. UMF was able to pull away at the end, securing the win. A second game of the doubleheader was started but called due to darkness. During the game, Leah St. John hit a grand slam to make the score 10-8. When the game was called, the Beavers pulled away 14-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx responded quickly. Eleni Vrahatis was hit by a pitch and a sac bunt from St. John, plus an error, which allowed her to tie it up.

  • UMF was able to take the lead with another run in the second and added another in the 4th.

  • In the bottom half, Madison Herbert drew a full count walk and stole second. Lauren Martin reached on an error and scored a run.

  • The Beavers followed by putting up a two-run inning to extend their lead.

  • The Lynx responded with Isabella Moscoso drawing a lead-off a four-pitch walk. Vrahatis then bunted, and an error scored another run.

  • Despite the momentum, UMF put up a run in the 6th and two more in the 7th to seal their win.
