CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University softball program has announced its three team captains for the 2026-2027 season. The Lynx will be led by Lauren Martin, Isabella Moscoso, and Leah St. John.
"We are extremely excited to announce Bella Moscoso, Leah St. John, and Lauren Martin as our captains for the 2026-2027 season," says Lesley softball head coach Lou Proietti. "Their abilities to lead by example through their passion for softball and ability to make the people around them better make them the perfect fit for these leadership positions. With such a large incoming class, we will lean heavily on this group to establish the type of standards and culture that are required to be successful at this level. We are proud they represent Lesley Softball and can't wait to watch them create more leaders within our program."
Martin was recently named as Lesley softball's representative on the NAC All-Sportsmanship team after an outstanding season. At the plate, she led the Lynx in at-bats and finished second in runs batted in with 10 and doubles with three. She really stood out on the field. She was responsible for a team-high eight double plays, the highest mark of anyone in the NAC. She also led the Lynx in putouts with 178, the second best in the conference. Her .978 fielding percentage was the second highest on the squad.
Moscoso, a captain for the 2026 campaign, was a standout all-around player on the team. At the plate, she led the team in runs with 18, stolen bases with 6, and walks with 15. Her average of .6 walks per game ranked 94th in Division III. She finished second on the team in hits with 16 and doubles with 3. On the diamond, she led the team in assists with 48. On the mound, she made 16 appearances totaling a career high 40 innings. She set new personal bests in ERA and K per 9. One of her five starts was a complete game. At the 2026 LES-ley awards, she was named the softball team's Unsung Hero.
Another returning captain, St. John was recently named to the NAC All-Conference Second Team after a career-best season. She led the Lynx in almost every offensive category: games played (29), hits (27), doubles (9), home runs (3), batting average (.415), on-base percentage (.487), and slugging (.692). She also ranked 6th in the conference AVG, OBP, and SLG. On the field, she was responsible for the second most double plays and recorded the third best fielding percentage on the squad. In the 2026 campaign, she also made her college pitching debut on March 16th against Westfield State. She made two appearances, including a start.
The softball squad finished the season 3-27 and 3-12 in the NAC. Their conference record was their second best since rejoining the NAC following the 2023 season. Their first win came on April 8th when they topped VTSU Johnson 6-2 at home. They won back-to-back games in a doubleheader on April 28th against VTSU Lyndon, earning 13-5 and 7-2 wins.
