THE LEAD — Husson University used a big first half to coast past Lesley University, 87-59, Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference women's basketball action at Minuteman High School.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • LU sophomore Abbie Price (Waco, Texas) connected on an early three to even the score at 4-4 before the Eagles rattled off eight straight points to take the lead for good.
  • Husson forward Saige Evans led the first half charge, scoring 25 points by intermission to match the Lesley team score as the Eagles led 52-25 at the half.
  • The Lynx best quarter of the day came in the third as the hosts outscored Husson by a 15-14 margin as Price collected six in the stanza to make it a 66-40 score through three.
  • Lesley managed to score 19 points in the final period including eight by senior Leila Chisholm (Santa Barbara, Calif.) but it wasn't enough as the Eagles cruised to the 87-59 NAC win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Evans finished with a career-high 33 points on 14-of-20 shooting, also collecting a team-high eight rebounds.
  • Lilly Roy added 20 points in 21 minutes of action for Husson including 2-for-3 from downtown and 6-for-7 from the stripe.
  • Chisholm recorded a team-high 21 points to go along with five boards, four assists, four steals and one block. Price finished with 15points, six rebounds and four steals.
  • The Eagles bench outscored the Lynx reserves by a 25-4 margin.
  • Husson owned a 47-33 (+14) rebounding edge in the victory.

UP NEXT

  • Lesley is off tomorrow but returns to action on Tuesday, November 25 for a 6:00 PM road tilt vs. Mount Holyoke College.
  • The Eagles are idle until Tuesday, December 2 when they play host to UMaine Fort Kent at 6:00 PM at Newman Gymnasium.
