THE LEAD — The Lynx returned home with hopes of getting their first win of the new year, while the Hornets came in looking to turn their previous win into a streak. VTSU got off to an early lead, but the Lynx fought their way back. Coming out of the half, the Hornets stepped up on both sides of the ball and secured a 67-46 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Hornets scored first and got off to a heart start. In the first quarter, they went on a 14-2 run.

  • Lesley was still able to put up some points in the first. Finishing the first quarter down 20-11.

  • In the second, the Lynx continued to fight. Slowly chipping away at the Hornets' lead.

  • A three from Leila Chisholm put the Lynx within one of the Hornets with six left in the half.

  • The Hornets' defense really shone in the third, only allowing the Lynx to score 10, their least productive quarter of the game.

  • VTSU didn't let up. In the fourth, they scored the most points they had all game with 21, including nine from Kadienne Whitcomb.

  • The Lynx also had their best offensive quarter in the fourth, but their push was not enough as they fell 67-46.
