THE LEAD— The Lesley University women's soccer team opened the 2025 campaign with 90 scoreless minutes of action in a 0-0 draw against cross-river rival Wentworth Institute of Technology.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley senior Kylie Chagnon (Framingham, Mass.) got the action started with the first shot of the action in the third minute of play but it proved to be the hosts only attempt of the contest.
  • Maeve Sullivan helped the Engineers jump out to a quick 2-0 lead. In the sixth minute she raced to the left wing and sent a pass to the front of the net for Alice Vranka who tipped the ball into the net. Just over four minutes later, Sullivan converted a penalty kick to make it 2-0.
  • Vranka tallied her second goal of the half off a pass from Sean Luk to make it a three-goal game at 14:21.
  • Luk made it a 4-0 MIT lead with her goal at 57:03 and just under two minutes later she, along with Leena Mehendale, set up Arianna Doss for the fifth goal of the evening for MIT.
  • With just under 40 seconds remaining, Emma Wang tallied the sixth goal of the evening for the Engineers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Vranka's two goals and four total points are both career-highs.
  • Luk's goal helped her eclipse the 50-point mark as she now has 17 career goals and 17 career assists.
  • The MIT defense was on point yet again as they allowed just one shot and none on goal for the second straight game.
  • LU senior Madison Reed (Burlingame, Calif.) made nine saves in the setback while Ava Muffoletto earned the win in net playing a scoreless first half for the visitors.
