THE LEAD – Despite owning a 28-1 advantage in shots, Lesley University settled for a 1-1 draw in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer action Saturday afternoon vs. VTSU Johnson at Minaert Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Badgers made the most of their one shot on the day as Sadie Baranyay found the back of the net in the 39th minute thanks to a Elizabeth Love assist to send the hosts into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
  • Lesley outshot VTSU by a 13-1 margin at the break.
  • The Lynx needed only 63 seconds into the second stanza to knot the game at 1-1 as senior midfielder Annika Gnesda (Chico, Calif.) found sophomore winger Elsie Koehler (Portland, Ore.) for the equalizer.
  • Lesley went on to outshoot the Badgers by a 15-0 margin in the second half but couldn't get the game-winner despite several strong attempts.
  • Sophomore defender Maya Spatafore () had the best look with less than five minutes to play when her shot from just outside the box hit off the right goalpost before being controlled.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Badgers got strong goalkeeping from the duo of Isabel Atkisson and Sophia Johnson. The duo combined for 14 saves with the team making a 15th stop for the hard-earned point.
  • LU senior Madison Reed (Burlingame, Calif.) adds another tie for her docket, going the full distance for Lesley.
  • The goal for Koehler was her 3rd of the year.
  • At five ties, the Lynx rank tied for third nationally in draws among NCAA Division III women's soccer programs, only behind Methodist and Stevens who each have six.
