THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's soccer program settled for another draw Wednesday evening, playing Fitchburg State University to a 1-1 tie in non-conference action at Elliot Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons struck first in the 13th minute of the first half on a well-placed shot by Noelle Kennedy (West Roxbury, Mass.), marking her second goal of the season.
- The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the Falcons going into the second half. In the 55th minute, Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Texas) finally got one past Fitchburg's keeper to tie the game up at 1-1. Senior Zoe Curtaz (Novato, Calif.) assisted on the score.
- The Lynx pushed the remainder of the way for the go-ahead goal, attempting 10 shots over the final 30 minutes of play but couldn't find the back of the net, settling for the program's sixth tie of the 2025 campaign.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Lesley outshot the Falcons by a 3:1 ratio, finishing the game with a 33-11 edge in attempts.
- Cruz took a game-high 12 shots, with seven of them on goal.
- Cassandra Pendleton (Ware, MA) had an impressive day in goal for the Falcons. She made 13 saves on 14 shots faced. Madison Reed (Burlingame, Calif.) saw just four shots on goal with three saves.
- At six ties, Lesley now shares the national lead among NCAA Division III women's soccer programs with Whitman, Methodist, Keene State, George Fox and Stevens who also have six draws on the year.
UP NEXT
- Lesley returns to NAC action this Saturday, Oct. 11 for a key showdown vs. UMaine Farmington at 12:00 PM in Lexington, Mass.
- Fitchburg State is back the same day when they host MCLA in conference play at 11:00 AM.
