THE LEAD – Senior Zoe Curtaz (Novato, Calif.) registered four points on a goal and two assists to lead top-seeded Lesley University past No. 5 UMaine Farmington on Saturday afternoon in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Semifinals at Minuteman Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Curtaz got things started just 1:13 into the game, netting what proved to be the eventual game-winner with a left-footed blast to the top left corner of the net, set up by classmate Kylie Chagnon (Framingham, Mass.) to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead.
  • In the 28th minute, Curtaz served up a direct kick from 30 yards out to sophomore Elsie Koehler (Portland, Ore.) who netted the Lynx second goal of the afternoon to double to lead to 2-0.
  • First year Ella Stanley (Allyn, Wash.) made it 3-0, heading home her second goal of the season directly off a corner taken by sophomore Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Texas.) at the 36:41 marker.
  • Lesley maintained the three-goal cushion into the break, outshooting the Beavers by a 12-1 margin in the opening stanza.
  • The Lynx defensive unit remained steady in the second half to maintain the clean sheet and junior Marissa De La Rosa (Phoeniz, Ariz.) capped the scoring with a nice volley coming from Curtaz to account for the 4-0 final to advance Lesley to the 2025 NAC Championship.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Senior keeper Madison Reed (Burlingame, Calif.) earned the shutout victory making three saves for Lesley. The clean sheet is her fourth of the year and 14th of her career.
  • Paige Gonya was solid in net in the setback, making 15 saves for the Beavers.
  • Lesley outshot UMF by a 31-5 margin and finished the game with a 6-3 advantage in corners.
  • In their last six home matches, the Lynx have allowed just one goal while posting an impressive 0.17 goals against average.

UP NEXT

  • Lesley now plays host to No. 3 Maine Maritime Academy in the NAC Championship next weekend. The Mariners upset No. 2 Husson University, scoring two second-half goals to come-from-behind and defeat the Eagles, 3-2, in the other NAC Semifinal clash this evening. During the regular season, the Lynx picked up a 2-1 win over MMA back on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Minuteman.
