Women's Tennis Wins Springtime Matchup at Curry, 5-2

THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's tennis team took the courts in spring action on Saturday as the squad traveled to Curry College and topped the Colonels, 5-2. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles action.
  • Junior Jessica Legendre (Leesville, La.) and graduate student Caroline Champa (Boston, Mass.) won their doubles matchup, 6-4 while sophomores Mary Osucha (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Lucy Boyce (Marshfield, Mass.) cruised to a 6-1 win in second doubles.
  • Osucha continued her stellar play at the top of the lineup by winning her matchup 6-3, 6-3, while Legendre and Champa also made quick work of their matches in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Legendre earned a 6-0, 6-0 win while Champa tabbed a 6-0, 6-2 decision to secure the match.
  • The toughest match of the day was in No. 5 singles as Anna Stamp (Belchertown, Mass.) battled in a tight match vs. Cayla Ostowski. Stamp ultimately came out with the win in a 7-6, 7-2, and 6-4 matchup. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • North Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year Osucha, improved her 2024-25 singles record to an impressive 13-1 whereas in doubles, her and Boyce are now 12-2. 
  • Legendre is also 13-1 on the 2024-25 season in singles action whereas in doubles, she is 12-2.
  • Lesley has now won the last four matchups against Curry dating back to the 2021-22 season. 

UP NEXT

  • Lesley will now await their oppornent for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship tournament. The tournament field will be announced on May 5th, and play will begin on May 9th at a site to be determined later.
