THE LEAD — The Lesley women's volleyball program opened its 2025 campaign at Curry College with a tri-match vs. Emmanuel College and the host Colonels, dropping both contests in straight sets by 3-0 final scores.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Match 1 vs. EC)

  • Lesley opened the match strong with a 3-0 flurry capped by a service ace from junior Rayann Fatahi (Arlington, Mass.) before Emmanuel turned it on. After pulling to a 5-3 score in favor of Lesley, EC rattled off 12 consecutive points to open up a 15-5 advantage, cruising to a 25-9 first set win and holding the Lynx to without a kill in the frame.
  • LU played its best offensive set of the match in the second stanza as sophomores Jessica Brassil (Epping, N.H.) and Abbie Price (Waco, Texas) each picked up kills in a 25-11 setback.
  • Korinne Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.) notched an ace in the third set up the Emmanuel squad's service game was too much for the Lynx to overcome in a 25-8 third set defeat.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Match 1 vs. EC)

  • Junior Shea Thomas (Clayton, N.C.) paced Lesley's defensive effort with a match-high 10 digs.
  • Julia Haight led all players with six kills for Emmanuel while Addy Fry dished out a match-high 12 assists.
  • The Saints combined for 23 aces in the win including a match-high seven from Lauren Talbott.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Match 2 vs. CC)

  • Curry raced out to an early 5-0 cushion and never trailed in the action, collecting 10 kills in the set to post a 25-14 win despite a late flurry by the Lynx who outscored the hosts down the stretch, 6-2 to close the stanza.
  • The sides traded points to a 2-2 score to open Set 2 before Curry used a 6-0 stretch to open a 13-4 advantage en route to another 25-14 win. Fatahi collected a pair of aces in the set while Baileigh Sinaman-Daniel (Stafford, Va.) posted her first kill of the season.
  • Lesley and Curry once again exchanged serves early on to an 8-8 tie that included an ace from sophomore Alawnah Dunda (Fort Ann, N.Y.) and a kill by Brassil before Curry took the lead for good to outlast the Lynx in a 25-16 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Match 2 vs. CC)

  • Hall-Johnson led all players with 13 digs.
  • LU also got three kills from Price and two from Brassil in the setback while eight different Colonels posted two or more kills including a match-high four winners by Ciara Crayton.
  • Curry served up 20 aces in the win compared to five by LU, Fatahi posting three for the Lynx.
