THE LEAD — Massachusetts Maritime Academy registered a 3-0 non-conference win over the Lesley University Women's Volleyball program Tuesday evening in NCAA Division III action at the Clean Harbors Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mariah Febo (Boston, Mass.) opened the match with an ace to give LU an early lead but the Bucs stormed out to an 11-2 lead and cruised to the 25-11 opening set win.
- Sophomore Alawnah Dunda (Fort Anne, N.Y.) recorded a kill to open the second frame but once again the hosts regrouped, pushing forward to a 13-5 cushion before closing out a 25-17 win.
- MMA never trailed in the final set, opening the action with a quick 9-1 blitz en route to the 25-11 sweep, hitting .345 (14-4-29) in the frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- MMA got strong production from sophomore Hailey Rumlow with eight kills in the win while Maliah Servino and Shayla Narodowg each had seven.
- Narodowg assisted on 29 points for the Buccaneers to lead all players and on the serve, Erin Donlan recorded a match-high four aces, and Ashley Walantis had three aces in the match.
- Defensively, Holly Sanders had a match-high 27 digs for the hosts while the Lynx got 10 digs each from Korinne Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.) and Febo. Febo also recorded 12 assists and two aces.
- For Lesley, Abbie Price (Waco, Texas) recorded three solo blocks to lead all players while Rayann Fatahi (Arlington, Mass.) and Shae Thomas (Clayton, N.C.) each had three kills in the loss.

- Lesley returns to action on Saturday, September 20 for a tri-match hosted by Emmanuel College. The Lynx will take on the host Saints at 3:00 PM following a 1:00 PM tilt vs. Albertus Magnus College.
