THE LEAD — Salem State University picked up a 3-0 (25-14, 25-3, 25-17) non-conference win over host Lesley University on Tuesday evening in NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball action at Minuteman High School.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Back-to-back kills from Sabina Kamanda gave the Vikings a quick lead that they'd never lose in the opening set, rolling to a 25-14 win while collecting 13 kills as a team in the frame.
- The Lynx took an early 2-0 lead in the second frame thanks to a pair of SSU errors before Maya Lily Dunn took the service game for the next 24 points, including four aces, in a 25-3 romp.
- The sides traded points to a 3-3 score in the final set before a 7-0 flurry pulled Salem State in front, 10-3. The Lynx got kills in the set from Shea Thomas (Clayton, N.C.), Korinne Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.), Estephany Morales (New York, N.Y.), Alawnah Dunda (Fort Anne, N.Y.) and Rayann Fatahi (Arlington, Mass.).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Presley Shairs, Gariella Martinez and Kamanda led the way for SSU with 10, eight and seven kills, respectively. Ceclia Carbone dished out 26 assists while adding a team-high 16 digs.
- Fatahi paced Lesley with three kills while Mariah Febo (Boston, Mass.) registered 10 helpers.
- Hall-Johnson posted a new career-high 26 digs in the set back.
