THE LEAD — Lesley University fell to Norwich University by a 3-0 final on Wednesday evening in a highly contested NCAA Division III women's volleyball match up at Minuteman High School.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • LU fell behind in the opening set, 6-4, before rattling off six straight points behind the service game of Jessica Brassil (Epping, N.H.) to pull ahead 10-6. After trading points to a 12-8 lead, the Cadets responded with a 7-0 run of their own to swing the momentum enough to tip the scales in a 25-20 first set decision.
  • Norwich never trailed in the second frame, putting together their most efficient set from the floor with 12 kills in a 25-19 win.
  • The Lynx looked poised to extend the match with a strong start in the third by getting out to a 3-1 lead. Neither team pulled away as the set featured eight ties and seven lead changes. Lesley led 15-14 midway through the action and the score was tied as late in the frame as 21-21 before Norwich used a 4-1 flurry to finish the match for the win.
