THE LEAD – Two second half goals erased a two-goal halftime deficit to propel Lesley University to a 2-2 draw against the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon in NCAA Division III and North Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Trailing by two at the break, the Lynx changed the momentum with a goal just 2:12 into the second half by junior Marc Kenny Derac (Waltham, Mass.). The forward battled for a loose ball down in the Beavers box and fired a shot on frame as he was falling to the ground that beat UMF keeper Parker Day to make it 2-1.
  • In the 54th minute, Adrian Esparragoza (New York, N.Y.) blasted a shot from 30+ yards out over the head of Day to find the back of the net and even the score at 2-2 to reset the action for the final 36 minutes.
  • A late foul on Lesley gave the Beavers a direct free kick from 25 yards out but LU junior keeper Aiden Hendricks (Richmond, Va.) made a nice save to his right to preserve the point as the game ended in the 2-2 stalemate.
  • Farmington got on the board early thanks to a tally by Annimer Ibrahim just 42 seconds into the action with Owen Spera notching the assist. Spera drove the ball down deep into LU territory before crossing the ball in front of the Lesley goal mouth with Ibrahim cleaning it up for the score.
  • The visitors made it 2-0 in the 34th minute following a Lesley handball in the box that resulted in a penalty kick. JJ Greenlaw converted to attempt to give the Beavers the two-goal first half edge, setting the tone for Lesley's second-half efforts.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Hendricks made seven saves on the afternoon to move to 1-3-3 on the year in goal for Lesley while Day stopped six shots and stands at 4-4-1.
  • The result is the first draw between the programs in four career meetings with the Beavers owning the all-time series now at 3-0-1.
  • UMF outshot LY by a slim 13-11 margin and finished the game with a 6-1 advantage in corners.
