THE LEAD — The Husson University volleyball team powered past Lesley University in straight sets Saturday morning inside Newman Gymnasium, earning a 3–0 sweep to begin North Atlantic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Husson broke open the opening set with a decisive 15–4 run, highlighted by three straight Hooker service aces and back-to-back kills from Mikayla Gray. Janna Preskorn closed the frame with a pair of late service winners.
• The second set belonged to the Eagles from the first whistle as Peyton Hooker served the opening 13 points, recording three consecutive aces and dishing out multiple assists to Preskorn and Gray during the run. Husson never trailed in the stanza.
• In the third, first-year Shanteena Griffiths and freshman Daley Foss sparked the attack early before another extended service stretch from Hooker helped seal the sweep. Sophomore Jonna Travis delivered the match-ending ace.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Hooker fueled the offense and dominated the service line, finishing with a match-high nine aces, 13 assists and 16 digs. Preskorn led Husson with seven kills, added eight assists and served five aces of her own, while Gray contributed five kills and three digs.
• As a team, Husson posted 52 digs and limited Lesley to just nine total kills and a -.075 attack percentage. Kimberly Daniels chipped in four kills and two service aces, and Preskorn and Maddie Sheppard combined on the Eagles' lone block.
• LU sophomore Abbie Price (Waco, Texas) collected a team-best four kills while sophomore libero Korinne Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.) scooped up 18 digs, a match-high, adding two aces.

UP NEXT

• Lesley is back on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Mitchell College for a 7:00 PM non-conference battle.
• Husson continues NAC play on Friday with a trip to the University of Maine-Presque Isle at 5:00 PM.
